KRUGER INTERVIEWED.
THE BURGHERS DETERMINED TO FIGHT. CAPITAL OF TRANSVAAL IN A RAILWAY CAR. THE PRESIDENT DENIES A NUMBER OF CHARGES. Received 8,10.15 p.m. London, June 8. A Daily Express representative interviewed President Kruger, who is living at Machadorp, in a specially fitted railway car, and found him depressed and worried. He declared that the burghers would fight while 500 remained. His car was the Transvaal capital. He justified leaving his wife in Pretoria ou the ground that she would be quite safe at Pretoria till he returned. Kruger denif d that ho took two millions or intended seeking refuge aboard the steamer Friesland. A guerilla war, he stated, would be conducted over an enormous area, and the realstruggle was only beginning. There was nothing left for the Boers but to fight. The President concluded:— " Let Lord Roberts find the National treasure if he can."
