THE OTTAWA FIRE.
PARTICULARS BY THE MAIL. ENORMOUS DESTRUCTION. [PBB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received 30,10.50 a.m.) Sidnby, May 30. Details of the Ottawa fire show that it was caused through the chimney of a private house catching fire. Five square miles of territory were burned, and more than 2500 dwellings, factories, mills, stores, and other buildings, including half a dozen churches, destroyed. The loss was estimated at four million pounds. Seven deaths had occurred up to the time the mail left. About 3£ million feet of lumber was destroyed.
