BOROUGH COUNCIL.

I MEETING OF WOHKS COMMITTEE. The Works Committee of the Borough Council met on Friday. Present: Cr, Brooking (Chairman), the Mayor, and Cr. Stohr. It was resolved:—" That the Town Clerk instruct Mr. Sanderson, architect, to call for tenders for iron fences and picket fence, also portico, etc., to the Town Hall. That tenders be called for removing shed at back of Town Hall to Gill-street yards. | Th.it owing to the scarcity of grarol at the quarry, no further sales of gravel be made. That a few loads of sandstone be placed on Gilbert-street, in front of Mr. C. H. Burgess's residence. That Mr. J. H. Parker's request re Powderham-street footpath, between Dawson and Silver streets, be attended to when opportunity offers. That King-street, from the front of tho Town Hall to Brougham-street, be formed and metalled, and a footpath made with stone kerbipgs and paved gutter. That the contractors be notified to get out 500 feet of kerbing and corners. That the Town Clerk write to Auckland and Christchurch re sample and cost of gas lamps. That four lamps be obtained, and that one be fixed at the corner of Carrington Road and Courtenay-street, That the Town Clerk confer with the Borough Solicitor re drain running into Mr. Penn's property, Elliot-street south."
