Cattle.—At Waiwakaiho, on Tuesday, the yards were fairly filled, with mostly calves. Owing to the bad weather the attendance was smaller than usual, and few buyers were present, and although a good many lines were sold, bidding for young cattle was quieter than for some time. This, however, cannot be taken as any indication of the state of the market, and, with'fine weather, I look for late prices being iuore than sustained, there being a strong outside demand for all good strong young stock. Calves made 17s to 21s; calves to yearlings, 25s to 30s; steer do, 325; 18-months Ayrshire heifers in calf, 55s 6d; springers, 65s to 72s 6d; store cows, 35s to 475; fat cows, 58s to 70s; ewes in lamb, 10s; empty ewes, 7s lOd.
