Lyttelton, May 13. Frederick Turnbull, aged about 28, was washed overboard from the brigantine Eliza Firth and drowned about 2 a.m. on Tuesday last on the passage from Kaipara to Lyttelton. The night was thick and stormy, and nothing could be done to save him.

Auckland, May 12,

A sad accident occurred at Ponsonby. A lad named Edward Fitzgerald, aged 16, was kicked in the abdomen by a horse, and died from internal injuries about four hours after his admission to the hospital.
