MOVEMENTS FOR RE LEW OF SUFFERERS. Auckland, Maj 3. In reply to a telegram from the Premier, as to Government help to the sufferers by the Ottawa fin, the Hon. W. Jennings says" Certainly, the Government should contribute something towards alleviating the distress occasioned by the conflagration in Canada. Moreover, the Government would be justified in further contributing towards the un happy starving millions in India. Never mind what some may say or think in these matters. The impulse to help those who need it is a God-given one, and should not be stifled. Shake up this narrow, selfish world into a closer feeling of brotherhood while you have the opportunity. It will be a good example for others to follow."
