BELL BLOCK.

(from odr own correspondent.)

A MERTiKQ of the ratepayers was hold last week, and it was resolved to petition the County Council to make the Heuwood Ro.id a County road, a work that would cut off' the long round by Sentry Hill and relieve the traffic on the Mountain Koad.

The Church of England is on the war-path. Salvation Army tactics having been adopted, two services on Sunday aud one on Wad .eslay are now regulaily held. A coccurt is shortly to be given for the purpose of raieiDg funds for enlarging the church. After the concert a supper is to be provided by the ladies of tne congregation. During the next moon there are rumours chat we are to be invaded by a troop of minstrels from Egmont Village, and if they come no doubt they will secure a good house, as there has been no entertainment of that sort here for years.
