EASTER ENCAMPMENTS.

[PBH PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wanganui, April 17. The Easter camp held here was successful on the whole. About 1500 men, including contingents from Wellington, Napier, Manawatu, Rangitikei, Hawera, and Taranaki, were present. The weather was showery on Friday and Sunday, but fine on Saturday and Monday. Several thousand visited the camp, which was situated three miles out of town. Colonel Penton arrived ob Saturday and reviewed the troops yesterday. He also acted as umpire for the sham fight in the morning, which resulted in the attacking force, under Lieut.-Oolonel Collins, capturing the camp. Good serviceable work was put in, the grounds baing most suitable for manceuvreing, The was a serious accident on Sunday, Ernest Price, of Napier, being thrown heavily from his horse and taken to the hospital in an unconscious state. He received a concussion of the brain, and is still in a low condition. Colonel Pitt has been in command of the camp. Most of the men returned home last night, but some few hundred are likely to put in seven days. Auckland, April 17. The Easter encampment broke up yesterday afternoon. The Premier addressed the parade, expressing satisfaction with the appearance of the men. Just before the troops came back from the sham fighf, Wilson, of Waikato No. 1 Company, was brought in by the ambulance corps suffering from a blow in the ribs, effected by the butt end of a rifle of one of the opposing force. He was taken to the hospital tent, where he recovered. When the camp broke up an enquiry was held into the affair, when it was ascertained to be a pure accident.
