Auckland, April 13. \ Owing to alleged irregularities in the Oity Oouncil accounts, one official has been dismissed and two suspended, buc no charges have been made. A. special committee is still investigating. The Mayor said so far as he knew yet the amount involved did not exceed .£IOO, and the bond of the Guarantee Society covered more than that. He did not anticipate they would find anything further, but at the same time they were making a canvass of those persons who appeared on the oooks as being in arrears with their rates to see if they had ptid, Mr. Salmon wished to know " if steps had been taken to prevent some persons leaving the city V Mr. Baume said he thought the motion carried by the Special Committee on the previous evening gave the requisite authority for such steps ,as were necessary.
