PROHIBITION LEAGUE.

The annual meeting of the Prohibition League was hold iu the Whiteley Hall on Friday. The report of the year's work, together with treasurer's statement, were placed before the meeting and confirmed. Some discussion took , place on an interesting paper entitled " How to advance our cause politically." The writer, in expressing his views, laid down some excellent propositions. To further advancement we must have men to represent us who can command |the respect of the people, and upon whom they may rely to give active and sincere support to overy measure calculated to increase tho weal of mankind generally as against the vested interest of monopolists. Further, the writer contended that we must take upon ourselves the responsibility of securing these men and give them our hearty co-operation and support. The meeting expressed its approval of the policy and principles of the paper, und urged that arrangements be m ide for its circulation and perusal in other parts of the colony. The Rev, S. J. Serpell was elected president and Mr. Harold Blomfield secretary of the loague. Delegates were eiected for the Wellington Provincial District Council.
