During the week r< prcsimtatives of the brewing trade and the license d victuallers have bocn meeting in separate conferences discussing questions aflVcting tha The brewers waited on the Premier urging him to introduce his Bill of 1896, which passed through the House, with an additional provision that tho Local Option Poll bitaken every uiLe yearj instead ol triennially as at present. Tho hoansed victuallers also waited on Mr, Seddon urging that tho poll be taken every nine years; also asking for the adoption of uniform hours for hotels throughout the colony, and abolishing the reduction vote at the Local Option polls.
Mr. Soddon informed the deputations that he had already been waited upon by tho Prohibition Party. Whil i he &'ii ! d not promise what would be done, hfi raid 'he views of all parties would re eiv. the earnest consideration of the Urtbinet.
