THE NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENTS.
Wellington, March 29. The Union Company will place four steamers capable of carrying 6,000 persons at the service of the Committee for Saturday's send-off, but insist that the troopships must be away shortly after 330 p.m. The Oommittee agreed to this, and speeches will be confined to those made at the luncheon to the men. The Maori will take 186 men, 25 commissioned and non-commissioned loflicere, and 230 horses. It is understood that the Government have decided to kesp the First New Zealand Contingent up to the full strength, and the required number of men will be despatched shortly. WARRANT FOR THE ARREST OF A TROOPER. IMPERIAL ARMY ACT STEPS IN THB WAY. Christchjrch, March 29. A detective went to Lyttelton yesterday armed with a warrant for the arrest of a member of the contingent on board the Gymeric, on a charge cf being about to leave the colony with* out finding a surety for the fulfilment of a maintenance order.
