THE GALLANT BAND AT MAFEKING.
REPORT FROM BADEN-POWELL. ADVANCE OF THE RELIEF FORCE. Received 27, 9.55 a.m. London, March 26. Another report from Alafeking, dated 13th Mai ch, states that the garrison captured 27 head of the enemy's cattle. Many of the natives who are shut up in Mafekiug refused to take horsefl'sh, though they are starving. Colonel Baden-Powell reported on the 13ch "All Well," and that tho cordon of investing Boers was much relaxed. The relief force of Kimberley Light Horse, under Colonel Peakhum, advanced 18 miles north of Christiana, or about 40 miles north of Fourteen Streams, where the enemy is opposing Lord Methuen. Commandant Olivier's force of Boers, supported by 15 guns, is reported to be occupying a position, north of Lidybrand, close to the Basuto Land border. Other reports from Ladybrand sa that Olivier has deserted his laage md that the enemy is flying wildl with General Gatacre's cavalry in he pursuit. The Free Staters threaten to shoo Commandant Olivier for grossl deceiving them. LORD METHUEN PREPARING FOR AI ADVANCE. ! TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS. (Received 28,1.C0 a.m.) London, March 27. Lord Methuen is completing transport arrangements, as well as stores, with a view to a rapid and effective advance.
