NEW ZEALAND FIRST CONTINGENT.

REPORT FROM MAJOR ROBIN. Wellington, March 21. A report received from Major Robin shows that so far the First Contingent has lost by' death or sickness 17 of its number. Besides four killed in action, Troopers Patterson and Burroughs died { of enteric fever, and the following bad been, invalided and had either already returned to New Zealand or will do Bo:-Sergt. E. G. Watkine, Troopers Jinks, Gaudin, and A. K. Taylor, all Buffering from chronic complaints; Trooper Hunt, injury to back received on hoard ship; R. Young, injury to tack through fall from horse; J. Harford, heart disease; R. Wallace, hernia; and D. J. Ryan, physically unfit. Besides the above, Saddler J. Aitkin is missing, and Sergt. Bond, who is disabled by a kick from.a horse, and will probably be in the hospital a month.
