Fruit.—At sale's during the week prices ruled as follow': —Apples, Is 6d to 4s; pears, 2s to 4s 6d; peaches, 3s Sid to Gs; tomatoes, 2s 6d to 4s; plmuß, 4s: grapes, 10£ d to la. Cattle.—At Stratford on Tuesday the yards were well filled. A nice lot of steers, principally 18-month and 2-year-olds, came forward, and were, nearly all sold at satisfactory prices. One or two pens of 3 to 4|year bullocks were yarded and were mostly sold, either at the hammer or afterwards. Good calves were in demand and sold well. Store cows.and empty heifers were dull of sale. Oalves made 13s to £1 6s; 18 to 20month steers,:£2 8s 61 to £2, 15s; 3to 3§year bullocks, £3l4s to £4 9s; store cows, £1 15s to £2 ss; old cons, 10s go 18a; heifers in calf, £2 to £2 10s.
At Stony Riv.r on Wednesday mostly young cattle came forward. There was a good attendance and nearly everything sold at fair prices. There was steady bidding for all good calves, but prices were a trifle lower than previous pales. Buoklaud and Sons report;—At the Haymarket auction, meadow hay was from 2s to 2s 6d; oaten sheaves, 2s per cwt; J straw, 14s to 17s per load; damaged maize, Is 6d to Is 9d per bushel; cow potatoes, 37s I per ton ; maize, on wharf, 2s 4d per bushel. On Friday, horse stock yarded were of a medium class. Plough horses brought from £l2 to £l7; light harness, £7 to £10; spring cart, £5.
On Tuesday, hides and tallow were at Mc values. Bkius advanced 3d each. Prices as follows Ox hides, 4jd to sjd ; cow, 4|d to 4fd ; calfskins, 4Jd to* s£d; fat, Ifd per lb.; choice tallow, 22s to 255; ordinary, 16s to 19s 3d; bones, 4s 3d per cwt; sheep pelts, Is to 2s 9d; lambs, Is lOd to 2s lOd; lambs' wool, 5d to 5Jd; crossbred, 5d to s|d; longwool, 4£d; locks, 2d to 3d per lb. At Kemuera, on Thursday, dairy cows, yarded numerously, were at late values. Prices for those at profit were from L 3 to LB 15s each. Fat calves, in average numbers, scarcely kept last week's extreme values, yet sold at good priced. Fresh dropped, 3s to 6s each; medium, 8s to 14s; heavy, up to LI 14s. Fat cattle, in average supply, were firm at last week's quotations, and brought from 17s to 19s' per 1001b for steers, young gows, and heifers; aged cows, 12s to 14s. Prices for steers were from L 5 5s to L 8 16s | each; cows, L3toL 6 5s (230 sold). Sheep, yarded in less than aTerage number, were required. Wethers brought from 10s to 15s each; ewes, 8s to 12s 6d (950 sold). Fat | I lambs, in usual number and mostly of goo 1 quality, were ireely competed for, and brought from 8s to lis 3d each (200 sold), Pigs, in fair supply, were slightly better worth.
