NEW ZEALAND'S AID TO THE EMPIRE.

Wellington, March 16. It is likely that the eldest son of the Premier will accompany the Fourth Contingent, to South. Africa as lieutenant. The North Island section of the Fourth Contingent leave for Dunedin by the Monowai to-morrow afternoon. The men are to be entertained at luncheon by the local executive of the More Men Fund, and the official sendoff takes place on Jervois Quay, when the men will be addressed by the Premier and the Mayor,

NEW PLYMOUTH SECTION FOR FIFTH CONTINGENT.

The following have passed the various tests for enrolment in the Fifth Contingent :—F. Baker, W. V. Bashford, J. W. S. Brewer, J. Brooking, C. K. Brown, G. Dobbie, —. Feek, R. Hickson, G. J. Johnston, E. C. King, E. Larkin, A. Lock, G. M. Longstaff, J. McCutchan, —. McKinnon, K. O. Maxwell, W. E. Meredith, W. E. Newell, W. A. Pearce, J. Perry, W. J. Rose, McK. Runciman, A. Street, C. Turner, W. Kaddell, G. L. Warner, L. Wells, J, W. Wormold, A. W. Johnston.

A number of men have to be examined in one or more tests, and these must present themselves on Tuesday next. The place and hour will be notified later. The selected men leave New Plymouth on Thursday next. Those selected are requested to notify the Mayor of the railway station at wbich they intend to entrain, and immediate notice is requested.
