MANGANUI ROAD BOARD.
(from our own correspondent.) The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Monday, March sth. Present: Messrs Mackay (chairman), Jackson, Jones, and Porritt. i Proposed by Mr. Mackay, seconded by Mr. Jackson, That the letter from the Chief Secretary re tracing of block 15, Huiroa, be referred to the clerk to deal with.—Carried. Proposed by Mr. Porritt, seconded by Mr, Jackson, That the clause in the overseer's report re bridge on Kaiapoi Road be given effect to, on the condition that Major Coleman subsidise the cost to the extent of JB10; and that the matter be left in the hands of the Chairman and Overseer with power to act.—Carried. A letter was read from Mr. Black, re Midhirst Pound.—Proposed by Mr. Jackson, seconded by Mr. Jones, That Mr. Black's letter be referred to the Uhairman to report on at next meeting of the Board.—Carried. Proposed by Mr. Mackay, seconded by Mr. Porritt, That the clerk be instructed to again write to the Hon. the Minister of Lands re vote of £IOO for Pembroke Road, and explain that as the matter is urgent the Board would be obliged by a speedy reply ; and that he also write to Mr. W. Symes, M.H.R., re same. —Carried. Proposed by Mr. Jackson, seconded by Mr. Jones, That the work recommended by the Overseer in his report re Hunt Road be left in his hands with power to act.—Carried. Proposed by Mr. Jackson, seconded by Mr. Mackay, That the matter of staging and repairing Pembroke Road bridge be left in the hands of the Overseer, with power to act.—Carried. Mr. Jackson handed in his resignation, which was accepted with regret. Accounts were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
