Some of Field-Marshal Roberts' regiments outstripped the transport, and were living for dayß almost on quarter rations. All were exposed for three days and nights to rain and a cold wind. Major-General French is advancing on Bloemfontein. i President Steyn has appealed to President Kruger for help. Major-General Hector Mac Donald was shot in the shoulder as well as in the foot.
