ENORMOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. A LADY SCHOOL TEACHER'S PLUOK. [PER PEES 3 ASSOCIATION.] (Received 1, ] 0.15 a.m.) Melbourne, March 1. The damiga caused by bmh fires in Gippsland is about £IOO,OOO. There were many narrow escapes from loss of life. Some residents were compelled to stand in a creek for four hou^s. Miss Coleman, teacher, saved the Soate school at Wadelock. She got the younger pupils in a place of safety, then burnt a strip round the building.
