G(eat indignation is felt at the denial by the Duke of Orleans that he wrote congratulating Willette, the caricaturist of the Qisan in the Petit Journal pour Hire, a satirical paper published in Paris. The Duke's denial is not believed in France or England. M. Blowitz, The Times' Paris correspondent, states that the Duke has gone to Lisbon in response to a hint that his residence in England would probably be unpleasant. The incident has disgusted many of the Duke's supporters. The Lord Mayor's fund m aid of the Indian famine amounts to <£loo,ooo. The Right Hon. G. J.
