COLONIAL TROOPS TAKE PART IN THE RELIEF OF KIMBERLEY.

Detachments of the various Australasian contingents from the Modder River, Orange River, and Belmont participated in the relief of Kimberley. The New South Wales Lancers, between the Riet and Modder Rivers, held the extreme right flank, and were frequently exposed to the Boers' shell fire while the patrol was skirmishing. Lancer Fetting was wounded, and ■ | Corporal Gould (of the same company) rescued him under a heavy fire. Other parties of Queenslanders, New Zealanders, and.New South Welshmen helped to attack the Dronsfield kopjes, killing many Boers and clearing the kopjes.
