THE CONCILIATION AND ARBITRATION ACT.

At the Industrial Association meeting, Mr. Samuel Brown, President, iu discussing the Conciliation and Arbitration Act, urged that if the Act was to be amended the Government should take the advice of those experienced in I the working of the Act and do nothing to restrict or harass manufactures or industries. One speaker pointed out that the Act appeared to be in force only in towns, and pressed heavily on employers in the city when in competition with outside districts. The speakers severely criticised the Conciliation Board, urging that it should be differently constituted, or else abolished.
