MINSTREL ENTERTAINMENT.

There was but a fair audience at the Theatre .Royal on Thursday night foi the Minstrel entertainment in aid of the Town Baud uniform fund, but those who wore present wore entirely sympathetic, find the concert proved thoroughly enjoyable. One or two of those who had promisod to take part did not put in appearance, and in consequence the affair did not go off as smoothly as it would otherwise have done. Mr. R M. Dell acted as interlocutor, Mr. G. McUomish (who was noticeably suffering from a severe cold) as tambo, and Mr. W. Birch as bones. Minstrel songs and choruses were rendered by Messrs. J. Jury, W. Birch, A. Humphries, McUomish, Moon, and Hawkins, interspersed with many crisp jokes. Mr. A. (Jray nuulo a decided hit in his rendering of the now patriotic song " The Flag that Rules the World " (music by Mr. Garry and words by Mr. E. M. .Dell), and had to respond to a very enthusiastic encore. Mr. Hawkins sang " The Sleeping Camp," and Mr.' McUoinish was successful in his comic numbers. A very fair exhibition of vontriluquism by Mr. Colville brought the programme to a close. An efficient orchestra under Mr. Garry supplied the incidental music.
