G aard , Herdman was engaged situating, and was in the act of uncoupling trucks from the van, when he slipped and fell. The wheels of a truck passed over both 'arms, the right being badly fractured close to the shoulder, and the loft wrist and hand shattered. The latter was amputated, and there is'very little hope of saving tho other arm. Hordman is a married man with one child. Auckland, January 25. A. Diekney's son Jim was injured while exercising Swiftfoot on the Paeroa racecourse, by t.lie horse falling on him. lie died this morning. The deceased was 1G years of age, William Mhelford, aged 28, died at Kahui from injuries sustained while falling hush.
