A TEST was made in Wellington on the evening of the Bth September last, and the results were recorded, showing the relative cost of the gas consumed by a Welsbach Burner in producing a given intensity of light as compared with the cost of electricity producing an exactly similar degree of illumination. Several gentlemen holding iuipoitant official positions in Wellington were present, and the test was carried out in the following manner:— A 50 Candle-power electric lamp was placed at a distance of 12 feet from a Welsuaeh Incandescent Gas light. A mark at equal distances fiom the two lights was accurately iixod between them, and a white card was placed upiight ou the rnaik between the iwo lights.
