Some interesting particulars concerning Colonel Hector Mac Donald, of Omdurman fame, will be found on our fourth page. The Borough Council meets this evening. A first offender for drunkenness was convicted and discharged at the Police Oourt on i Saturday. Lieutenant-Colonel Pitt, of N3U -;i, has been re-appointed a member of the Legislative Council. Mr. J. R. Blair, of Wellington, has been re-elected Chairman of the 13auk of New Zealand. A few ladies and gentlemen are actively engaged in arranging for a popular concert to bu given in the Theatre Koyal on Monday, the 15th inst., in aid of the Transvaal Patriotic Fund. A number of Ke.v performers will take part, and no effort will be spared to make the entertainment worthy of the cause.

Mr. T. 0. Kelsoy has resigned the secretaryship of the Xaranaki Farmers' Club, and has been made an honorary member. Mr. M. Fleetwood has been appointed in Mr. Kelsey's place.
