WHANGAREI ISOLATED Floods, Slips And Washouts Press Association —Copyright. Wliangiarei, July 1. Whangarel and the Northland were to-day cu't off from ’the rest of New Zealand' by rail. From Maungaturoto to the northern railhead the line was blocked by slips, flood waters arid washouts, and it will be some time before comrnunication is fully re-er. 1 - tablished. The biggest slip is between Waiotira and Tauraroa, where the line is buribd to a depth of 40 feet for a distance of 60 feet. North of Whangarei is a long succession of slips and washouts, the most severe of tire latter being at Hikurangi. All low-lying parts of the line are under water, in some places to a depth of six feet. The time when communication will be restored 'depends entirely upon the weather.
