H. G. R. Mason, Attorney-General, attended tne meeting and tnat Mr Mason auuressed tne meeting and answered questions. A committee of investigation has been set up comprising Mr F. G. Young (secretary of the Hotel Workers’ Union) as chairman, Mr 11. Campbell (secretary of the Painteis’ Union) and Mr C. Matthews. It is understood that the parties involved in the dispute, which has arisen in the inner ranks of the Labour movement, will be invited to present their respective cases at a properly constituted inquiry. Meantime it is stated that the union is being requested to state the charges in writing. The exact nature of the union’s grievance is not known. When seen this morning the secretary of the Tramway Employees’ Union, Mr J. Liddell, declined to discuss the matter. “I have nothing whatever to say,” he declared.
