Over 60 representatives of the interests concerned in the bobby calf trteide met in conference at Auckland to-day at the invitation of Mr E. J Phelan, No. 1 Transport, Licensing Authority, who preeided. During (the morning the two groups concerned, the carriers and buyers, met separately and consider d a scheme submitted by Mr Phelun, a combined conference being held in the afternoon. Addressing the preliminary con Terence, Mr Phelan said the time had arrived when a genuine effort should be made to remedy the dieorganised conditions. “From my observations,” he said, “I tarn satisfied that conditions in the past have been appalling 1 and that there is the utmost justifiI cation for giving Eerious attention ! to this problem.” | Two aspects, calling for a'ltention.
