Team Chosen For Trial The following boys have been Clio - en to take part in the primary school Rugby trials at Eltham on Saturday morning. The area represented by the boys includes Mahoe, Kaponga, Pihama, Te Kiri, Opunake, Rahotu, Oaonui, Stratford, Toko, and Eltham; Forwards: D. Brewer (Oaonui), M. Cook (Oaonui), C. McKenzie (Opunake), J. Waswo (Rahotu), J. West (Kaponga), A. Langlands (Te Kiri), A. Hill, D. Oliver (Stratford), Bates, Palmer (Eltham). Backs: O. Jones (Stratford), Walsh (Eltham), L. Cave (Mahoe), K. Dawson (Rahotu), D. Wallis (Opunake), L. Renau (Rahotu). There will also be two boys from Stratford Convent and one from Toko. Ths teams are to assemble at 10 a.m., when side t will be chosen from the northern and western areas mentioned above, and from the southern area, which includes Patea and Hawera At the conclusion of the game the South Taranaki team will be chosen to meet the north as a cur-tain-raiser to the Taranaki-Canter-bury representative match at Stratford in August. On Tuesday afternoon the Stratford primary school team defeated Eltham at Eltham by 19 points to nil. Good form was shown by tha Stratford backs, whose passing was well executed. The Eltham forwards showed good form but they were not well supported by their hacks. Considerable inters st is being shown in school Rugby activities in South Taranaki, which extends from Stratford to Patea and takes in the western districts. Already 36 schools have affiliated with the South Tara- ; naki Schools’ Rugby Union and about 40 footballs have bean distributed to schools under the schools’ union Scheme of contracting for supplies and issuing the balls to schools at a low figure. In addition to the saving made by bulk purchase the union also carries part of the cost from its funds, which are obtained from giants from (he Taranaki Rugby Union, which body also subsidises a grant from the N.Z.R.U.
