INTERVENTION IN SPAIN
COMMITTEE MEETS WITHDRAWALS OF VOLUNTEERS Consideration Deferred (British Official Wireless). (Received 11.30 a m.) Rugby, June 29. The scheme under which Britain and l France agreed to take the place of Germany and Italy in the Spanish naval control scheme, alto the question of the appointment of neutral observers on control ships, was submitted to the Non-Intervention Subcommittee to-day A communique isued after the meeting stated that Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Sweden and the Soviet welcomed the Anglo-French proposals, but that German and Italian representatives strongly objected, although with other members they agreed to refer the matter to the respective Governments.
A plan for the withdrawal from Spain of non-Spanish Nationals engaged in the conflict was also consideredl, but discussion was deferred until next meeting of the committee on July 2.
