PARACHUTE TAMPERED WITH
Press, Association—Copyright. Auckland, June 25. “There was no question of any possibility of fatal results to my jump," said the young New Zealand parachutist, G. W. Sellars, when referring to a Press Association report from Christchurch -stating that as he was about to jump from an aeroplane at Wigram Aerodrome he found that part of the parachute was already streaming out behind him. Sellars said to-day that, although he found that a portion ot the parachute had apparently been tampered with it was not enough to cause great danger. “Actually the parachute protection flap had been opened by somebody, I don’t know who, while I was on the ground,” said Sellars. “This flap fastens over the ripcord to prevent the cord being pulled out accidentally. We had cheeked over the parachute watched by two policemen, and T left for a few minutes to speak to the secretary. Mr Climie. The flap must have been opened while I was away. It was really a trivial matter as far as any danger to me was concerned."
