FORGERY CHARGES

Allegation Against Woman Press Association —Copyright Palmerston North. June 23. Charges of forging a State Advances Corporation voucher for £2O 10s by signing her name to it with the intention it be acted upon as genuine and of stealing the amount named, were preferred against Mrs Alice Hughes, Kairanga, Bunnythorpe Road, wife of a farmhand, in the Police Court to-day. Evidence was given that the voucher was intended for Mrs Alice Hughes, of Setters Line, and represented a refund of surplus money held under a dairy order. i» ! The police said that accused in a statement said she thought the money might have been left her by her father’s relatives in England. Accused said in court that she acted innocently. The mopey would be refunded in July. Accused pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail was allowed.
