AUCKLAND SEWAGE
Big Scheme Adopted Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, June 24. The Auckland and Suburban Board last night adopted a comprehensive tcheme for the drainage of the southern area of the metropolitan district with treatment works and an outfall at Browns Island. This scheme, which will ultimately involve an expenditure of £1,564,000, was recommended by the secretary-engineer, Mr H. H. Watkins, in a report presented to the board in December, 1931, following a topr abroad during which he examined and studied every known method of sewerage disposal. The chairman of the board. Sir Ernest Davis, said the decision to proceed with the scheme marked a momentous stage in the drainage his tory of Auckland.
