NECK SCARRED
DAMAGES FOR TYPIST “Must Be Good-looking” Awarding £220 damages to a young English typist, whose neck was scarred in a bus accident, the Vienna Supreme Court ruled that a typist must be good-looking. “It is notorious,” the judgment read, "that in the profession of typist the outward appearance of female employees plays a major part.” “The Court is right,” the injured girl, Miss Kathleen Howard, of Cricket. Field Grove, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, said. “Nowadays, w'hen employers are looking for typists, they demand goodlooking ones. It seems to be beauty first and then brains.” Miss Howard, who was hurt while on holiday in the Tyrol, works in an office in the city. The Court ruled that the injury not only affected her business prospects, but also her chances of marriage.” “I don’t know about that*.’’ ahe commented. “It may be true, but T shall just have to wait and see.”
