MODEL AEROPLANE Reached 2000 Feet Press Association—Copyright. Tuakau, June 22. Claimed to be a record for the Dominion, a flight of minutes was made from Harrisville yetteruay by a model aeroplane built by Mr R. Mahoney, of Pukekohe East. Fitted with an imported model petrol engine of 1-5 h.p., the model circled after taking off from a paddock at Harrisville and then headed towards Bombay. During the flight it is estimated that it reached an altitude of 2000 ft., and travelled about ■ six miles. The Bittle ’plane has a wing span , of sft, and with its. motor weighs 41b. ! Seven models'owned by residents of' Auckland also took part in the com-; petition, which was for the Auckland Kestrel Model Aeroplane Club’s trophy. A claim is being made to have the flight, officially recognised. The pre-| vious record, stated to have been es.- ’ tablished at Napier about .a- month ago, was 81 minutes.
