SPEEDIER SERVICE Advantage To Taranaki As a result of the new time-table on the Main Trunk railway line between Auckland and Wellington, which came into operation yesterday, a new service is provided to Taranaki. The Liniited express now leaven Auckland at 7.15 p.m.., instead of 7 o'clock, and arrives at Wellington at 9.30 next morning, instead of et ■9.41. It leaves Wellington at 7.15 ! at night, as at present, and reaches I Auckland at 9.30 the following mornI ing, instited of at 9.40. I Hitherto the New Plymouth-Auck-j land express, arrived at Taumarunui j at 12.42 a.m.., twelve minutes after the departure of the Limited express for Wellington, and passengers from Taranaki have four minutee at Taumarunui in which to catch it. The Wellington-Auckland express leaving Wellington at 3 p.m. is alto running to an altered time-table aa from yesterday. Leaving Auckland* at 3 o’clock, the train larrives at Wellington at 7 o’clock next morning,, J instead of at 7.42. The train that j leaves Wellington at 3 o’clock now • reaches Auckland at 7 o’clock ,a saving of ten minutes.
i This alteration will also give an > added service to Taranaki, for arI it ngements are being made so that ' passengers from Wellington by this i express can connect at Taumaruui j with the Auckland-New Plymouth ; express reaching New Plymouth at i 7 a.m. Postal Arrangements. ; The Post Office has arranged for j mail to receive the same consider- ■ ation under the new facility as paa- , sengers are offered. I Under a recent arrangement the Auckland-New Plymouth express will . be run at a complete train on Suni day night, instead of being attached ;to the Limited from Auckland to ! Taumarunui. This is due to the* heavy traffic at the week-ends. This ; special express will itfeve Auckland. at 7.35 p.m. on Sunday and reach New Plymouth at a.m. on Mon-' i day. Similarly the Friday night I New Plymouth-Auckland express will i travel the whole distance as a sepai rate trljin, instead of being merged i at Taumarunui with the Wellfngton- | Auckland express. Three additional I stops between Frankton and Hau- ' marunui— at Mangapeehi, PorootarIso and MV^niha —will be made in I future on the week-end services. ! The Wellington-New Plymouth' i mail train will also operate under a i new time-table as from to-eby. Hith- ; erto the express left Wellington at ■ 9.55 a.m. Under the new- timej table it will leave at 10.15. The exi press from New Plymouth will leave ' at the same time as before, but will ! reach Wellington a little earlier. i The new time-tables are made posi sible by the bringing into operation ' of the Tav.ir, Flat deviation and tunI nel.
