Mrs. A. V. Tait, Kaponga, ■ president of S.T.C.A., presided, and I associated with her > t Vhe ofllcial I table were Mesdames W McL. Dowie. I M. Lees (donors of cups), J. S. JohnI stone, A. Moon (vice-presidents), and L. J. Bull (secretary). Shomuer I sprays were presented to these ■ ladies, by Mrs. J. W. Harding. Apd- | logics wore received from Mr. J. I .Bayley, Mrs J. E. Campbell, White | (Stratford), Peacock and Arthur I (Elthami. Stratford club sen,*, their i congratulations and (thanks for link- ■ ing them with S.T.C.A. | Mrs. Tait, after extending a weli come to all, gave a short history of , the association since Its. formation, j Previous to its formation South i Taranaki Clubs were affiliated with I North Taranaki, but owing to the inI convenience of .transport the players ! were unable to take much pert in 'croquet affairs. A deputation of ! South players met the North Tara- ‘ naki officials and were successful in l i. heir efforts to form a sepan.L e assoi ciaton. Those who were responsible | for the successful carrying out of I this .project included Mesdames Bull, I Harding, Riera (Stratford), and Car- ! man (Eli ham). Mrs. Dowling and Mr. J. Murp.iy also rendered yeoman
services. Mr Murray then president of N.Z.A.C., Was untiring in his efforts for the advancement of croquet. Mr. Bail'y, first president, held office for 5 years and was followed by Mr. J. M. Crague. Mrs. Ta.it was the first woman president. Mrs. Bull has been secret cry since formation of Association Successful tournaments were held annually. The association is well endowed with silver cups donated by the following: Mr. and Mrs W. McL. Dowie, Mrs M. Lees, Mr and Mrs J. Bayley, Mr and Mrs A. J. Gibbs, M:ss Stoddari, Messrs. Benue:) and Sutton. Prominent, exponents of croquet in association include Mesdames C. Masters, J. s. McKay, Bull and Messrs. A. J. Gibbs and J. M. Clague. Congratulations were offered to Mr. Gibbs on his win at Dominion Championships. Mr. J. M. dag tie- congratulated Mr?.. Tait and Mrs Bull on work being done for the association. He read the winners of the Ist. tourney and mentioned the presence that day of two foundation members of Manaia Club which was formed 25 years ago (Mrs. J. Meuli and Mrs. C. H. Armitage). Mi. A. J. Gibbs thanked ..,11 for theii .congratulations and expressed good wishes tor the future.

Dowie). —Avon winners.: Mesdames Bowie, Macßae, Bry.ce Lcmplough. A Council button, Mrs A Ward (Ok); B Council button, Mrs. Lewis (Kap); C Council btfton, Mrs. Tyack (Kap).
