AUCKLAND’S HOT SPRING.
Memories, of Rotorua are evoked >n those who pass through Auckland railway station by the sight of a column of white steam curling up among greenery in flower beds on the south side of the main building, beside the foot passengers’ access to the subways. The steam is from hot water nipos. part of the station’s central heating system, which are brought out through the soil of the , rockery beds. The beneficial effect of warmth and steam moisture is shown in the luxuriant growth of the ferns which fill the beds. They include several unusually large punga, which have grown to considerable size in a short while, aided by these modern methods of gardening, and which provide a welcome touch of greenery under the concrete walls.
