RUBBISH REMOVAL
CARRIER’S LICENSE Goods-Service Application An application by A. R. Richai’ds, of Midhirst, who holds the contract for the removLl of rubbish in the Stratford borough, for a goods-ser-vice license was refuted by Mr P. Skoglund at a sitting of the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority this morning. His existing license was renewed. Applicant appeared before the Authority and made formal application for a license and aeked to be allowed to carry fertilisers. He also stated that in Midhirst there was only one carrier «an'd> very often 'there were small jobs waiting to be done. At the outset Mr Skoglund said there wa& no chance of Richards getting a license for such work. Mr P. Stainton, representing the Taranaki Master Carriers’ Association, objected to the granting of a goods-service. As far as odd jobr. at Midhirst were concerned, he said they could probably be done with a wheelbarrow. There were a lot of licenses in the area, probably more than in other parts of New Zealand* and some carriers were having a difficult time. He submitted that applicant’s license should be confined to the removal of rubbish. Mr Skoglund: That is my opinion. In the meantime I will grant a license for rubbish removal only. Mr Richards: Can I get a license for Midhirst? Mr Skoglund: No. 1 am not giving any urea licenses. I have made up my mind and you have to be content in the meantime.
