Mr W. A. Rumbold, who has been 15 years headmaster of the Sydenham School, Christchurch, has resigned because of ill-health. The Hon. P. Fraser, Acting-Prime Minister, returned to Wellington from Auckland this morning. Mr C. F. Bowen, chief geologist of the Vacuum Oil Company Proprietary, Limited ,is shortly to leave New Zealand for New Guinea. Mr E. M. Hunt and Mr C. C. Nash have been appointed to the Tobacco Board in succession to Mr R. Barkley Smith and Mr G. Husheer as representatives .of the manufacturers, states an announcement in the Gazette. Mr J. McK. McDonald has been appointed a member of the Dairy Factory Managers’ Registration Board, in succession to Mr P. C. Peteren, who has resigned. Mr P. Skogiund, No 2 Transport Licensing Authority, and his tecreary. Mr W. J. Simms; arrived lat Stratford yesterday from Wellington. After a sitting at New Plymouth today 'they will leave by the express to_night for Taumarunui.
