AERO CLUB RALLY
FIELD DAY HELD Three Planes At Stratford Three aeroplanes of the Western Federated (J4h.) Club *wOre present at the Stratford aerodrome on Saturday, when 'a field day was held. During the afternoon flighits were mad'e. The aerodrome was in good order and flying conditions were favourable. Mr s. Gilkinson, Wanganui, the federation’s assistant instructor, had intended being present 'to give dual instruction to intending Stratford pilots and additional instruation in. the handling of the Miles Hawk machine to pilots trained ou De Haviland* Moths, but his presence was l A required ait Wanganui and the after. 1 noon’s activities consisted of passenger flights only. The Miles Hawk monoplane, ZKAEM, and the New Plymouth Moth, ZK.ABP, were both flown from Bell Block by New Plymouth pitots, returning before dusk. The Moth ZK. AAX was used by Mr A. Salter, ground engineer at New Plymouth, to take Mr Gilkinson from New Plymouth to Wanganui, whence It returned to Sr.ratford for the afternoon before proceeding to Hawera.
