NEW LINERS FOR PACIFIC
AN AGREEMENT REACHED FOREIGN SUBSIDISED SHIPPING Conference Delegates Realise Gravity Of Position Press Association —Copyright. (Received 12.5 p.m.) London, ll.
It is now learned that there is no possibility of the Imperial Conference reaching tin agreement in connection with the pro. posed new liners for tjhe Pacific until after the termination of t'he' Conference. However, the Aus-tralian-New Zealand - CanadianBritish sub-committee is making every effort to reach finality before the departure of Ministers from London, otherwise the negotiations w i|| probably drag on indefinitely.
The principal delegia-teg to-day approved the report of the Shipping Committee under Mr. Walter Nash’s chairmanship. Et is understood' that the report reviews the work of the Imperial Shipping Committee, and deals with Government - subsidised .foreign lines in competition with British shipping But there are no decisions or commitments on the matter, merely the passing of resolutions recognising the seriousness ol the situation.
The principal delegates also adopted Mr Archdale Parkhill’s Civil Air Communications Committee report.
