Savage, speaking at the National Trade Union Club luncheon, declared: “We told the New Zealand bankers .they had no need to put wet towels around their heads, but if we don’t gs.t service on economic lines we are going to provid‘d it ourselves 1 . Nobody is going to be allowed to stand in the way of New Zealand’s progress:
“We have begun by shortening the hours of labour and raising wages to give the people ia share in New Zea_ land’s production.”
