j A London cable announces the death of Mr R. J. Mitchell, designer of tne Schneider Trophy s aplanes. Mr J. Hodgens, M.P for Palmerston North, will be a visitor -to Stratford early in July. He will probably spent Ithree days in the electorate. Mr F. J. Stephens is acting as stationmaster during the absence of Mr R. J. Bowie who left by the express this morning to spend the balance of i his annual holiday leave at Feilding and Palmerston North. Mrs Mumby, of Stratford, celebrated her 89th birthday on June 3. It is 60 years since Mrs Mumby and the late Mr Mumby settled on Pembroke Road. Members of the family are Messrs J. Mumby (Opotiki), Christopher and George (Stratford), and Mrs M. I. Jury and Mrs J. T. Martin (Toko). There are 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grand-children.
