“The Government is fully aware of 1 the great losses that take place in primary production through animal disease and the necessity to increase research work so that such losses can be brought down to the lowest possible level; for that reason the Government proposes to enlarge the scope of the work at the Wallaceville laboratary by increasing the accommodation and the staff so that the laboratory can deal adequately with all phases of animal diseases.” This announcement was made to the annual meeting of the South Island Dairy Association to-day by the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. “W. Lee Martin.
