8700 GUINEAS PAID FOR STALLION
New South Wales Sale
Sydney, June 10. At the dispersal sale of Mr H. A. Taylor’s Macquarie Stud, Wellington, New South Wales, to-day, the imported stallion Melfort, whose stock figured prominently in the recent yearling sales, sold for 8700 guineas, the buyer being Mr H. S’. Thompson, Tarwin Park. The New Zealander, Mr W. T. Hazlett, was a bidder until 8500 guineas, when he dropped out. The stallion Rampion was bought by Mr E. A. Taylor, for 550 guineas, and the stallion Koomela, by Mr N. J. Veech, for 410 guineas. Sixty-six brood mares realised 8930 guineas.
