NEW ZEALAND PLEASES Senia Chostiakoff’s Tour Having travelled 12 : 000 miles by motor car over all parts, of New Zealand, at the conclusion of his contract with the National Broadcasting Service, M. Senia Chostikoff, late soloist of the Don Cossack Choir, is delighted with his reception and the results of the tour on which he was accompanied by Vincent Ryan, the Australian comedian. Though the scenic features of the South Island appealed more to both himself and Madame Chostiakoff, climate anidi scenery being more’ like ttheir own country, they were delightedl with their travels, even though some of the roads were not of the best, on account of the splendid way . they were received everywhere they went, the hospitality extended to j them, and the pains taken by people ' to show them interesting features; of the towns and districts they visit. ! ed. What struck thein most was- the ! distances travelled by country people | to hear them, fifty miles being noth-i ing. New Zealand audiences, said • Chostiakoff, evidently preferred a ‘ light musical programme, but he; found musical appreciation, though much greater in Lome towns Ithan others, general. Both he and Madame Chostiakoff were delighted with the Maroi people, whose amiable characteristics and generosity were outstanding, while they were a musical race, with ' full appreciation of the works pre-; sented. *

Scenically, New Zealand delighted them, and! both are looking forward to a return tour. After a short Australian tour on his return to Sydney, where he lives, Chostiakoff intends to make a South African tour. "If the people there are like they are here,” he said, “we shall certain. Iy enjoy it. We have greatly appre. elated the kindness of the people we have met here, and if the (time would have permitted we would have teen very little of hotels, so many were the invitations to people’s hom A c ”
