SETTLERS’ COMPLAINT
WAIT FOR TRAIN
Tahora-Stratford Service
Setklers of Tahora often had to wait up to lan hour tor the grrival of tho early morning train to Straitford and were dissatisfied l with the service, a traveller told the "Central Prets” today. He further complained that yesterday morning when Ithe train was on time and 'at least six people were watting in the darkness to board the train it failed to stop. The dtorekeeper, Mr Hyland flashed his torch from the roadside without effect. In fairness to the Department, it was staled that Tabor's was not scheduled as a stopping place but invariably the train did dtop. Unless. l intending passengers were standing on the plaWorm where they could be seen Site driver was not called upon to etop. The train referred Ito is a goode train with a car attached which leaves Taumarunui at 2.50 a.m. and arrives at Stratford at 9.48 a.m. According to railway officials Tahora is a scheduled stopping place, passengers being picked up or idt down whenever required.
