Mr and Mrs R. J. McGee, of Papakura, Mr K. Scott, and Miss D. Dick of Napier are the guests of Mr and Mrs C. E. Scott, Pembroke Road. Mr and Mrs J. McGuinness, Ngaliape, Waikato, are the guests of Mrs W. E. Williams, Hamlet Street, for a few days. A London cable message says that he Freedom of Aberdeen will be conferred on Mr J. A. Lyons, Prune Minister of Australia, on June 19’. Mr C. Il Dunford, the pilot of the M’l-es Hawk pFne, which crashed at Pembroke Road on Juns 2, is making •sr.f-factory progress in the Stratford hospital. Mr R. Forbes, a son of the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, returned after a holiday visit to Australia in the Wanganella, which arrived at Wellington yesterday from Sydney. The Governor-General, Lord Galway, ps.id a. visit yesterday morning to the Ross Home for old people at
Dunedin, states a Press Association telegram. He later attended the Dunedin Jopkey Club’s winter meeting at Wingatui, and in the evening was present at a Masonic gathering. Brigadier E. Kemp, new financial secretary for the Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Wanganella. He was accompanied by his wife and family. Lieutenant-Colonel AV. T. Fletcher. M.A., LL.B., F.R.G.S., Deputy-Judge and Advocate-General to the Southern Army Command, India, arrived at Wellington yesterday in the Wanganella from Sydney, accompanied by his wife. They intend to spend about five weeks in the Dominion before leaving for England.
